Ch. 4342: Married At First Sight Chapter 4342
Chapter 4342
Abby said, âBut before I give up, I want to give it my all. If it doesnât work out, then Iâll let go. That just means we werenât meant to be.â
âLuckily, we have a good relationship. And I was the one Grandma York picked for him. Now he says heâs going to follow her wishesâheâs chosen me for this life.â
Adalee replied, âThatâs only because he knows youâre Fox. Thatâs why he said it.â
Abby responded, âFox is me. Bianca is me. And Abby is me. No matter which version he fell in love withâitâs still me. But sometimes⌠I still get jealous of myself. How can I, the second daughter of the Du family, feel like Iâm not as good as Fox?â
She admitted that part of her still struggled with the idea that Evan fell in love with the version of her disguised as Fox, and not with the real Adaleeâher true identity.
âDonât stress over it. He loves you. What matters now is how you two build your relationship moving forward. You can even wear red and throw on some makeup now and thenâact like Fox again if you want.â
Abby shook her head. âNo, that would only make him more obsessed with the girl in disguise. I think I need to be real with himâas myself, without the expectations and restrictions of being from a prominent family.â
âThatâs the version of me he truly likes.â
As the second daughter of the Du family, Abby always had to think about her family first. She couldnât risk damaging the familyâs reputation.
That invisible pressureâthe weight of being a daughter from a prestigious householdâkept her from living freely.
But when she stepped out in disguise, no one knew she was part of the Du family. She didnât have to worry about appearances or expectations. She could just be herself.
And that hidden, authentic selfâwas the one Evan fell for.
âHonestly, you shouldnât put so much pressure on yourself,â Adalee said gently. âJust do what feels right. Iâll always have your back. Iâm the one who canât really act freely.â
As the head of the family, Adaleeâs actions and words carried weight. Everything she did could reflect on the Du family.
But as long as others in the family didnât cross any legal or moral lines, it wouldnât cause too much of a stir.
âItâs just habit,â Abby said quietly.
Adalee didnât respond.
Their upbringing, the lessons drilled into them since childhood, had shaped them into careful, thoughtful people. That kind of thinking⌠it becomes second nature.
After Abby hung up, Serenity turned to Zachary and asked, âEvan didnât tell Abby he was back? She said she wanted to come back with him.â
Zachary glanced at Evan, who was already holding his little nephew. Evan had just returned and may not have even gone homeâhe came straight to the hospital.
He brought a bunch of supplements, carrying bags big and small.
Evan didnât notice his brother and sister-in-law watching. He quietly carried the baby out to the small lounge.
Since Serenity hadnât been discharged yet, and it wasnât really appropriate for him to hang around in the room as her brother-in-law, he took the baby outside where the other men were.
As soon as Evan stepped out with the baby, a few guys immediately gathered around.
Callum reached out to take the baby, and Kevin did too.
But Evan dodged both of them.
âI just got back and barely held himâand you guys are already trying to steal him from me?â Evan said with a hint of annoyance.
