Ch. 4402: Married At First Sight Chapter 4402
Chapter 4402
âAbby,â Evan said softly.
She stepped out of the company and stopped in front of him.
Evan looked at her, his eyes full of tenderness and longing. He wanted to pull her into a hugâbut he held back.
She hadnât agreed to be his girlfriend yet. She hadnât even admitted that she was Fox.
But Evan already had his answer. His grandmother had confirmed it. He no longer needed Abby to say it out loudâhe knew in his heart she was Fox, the woman heâd fallen for. His grandmother wouldnât lie to him, and the clues from his brother and sister-in-law had been painfully obvious. Heâd just been too slow to put it all together.
His grandmother was a force to be reckoned with. If she had her eye on Abby, there was no way she didnât know how many identities Abby had.
So, Evan chose to trust her.
Like his brothers said, their grandmother might act like a mischievous old lady and enjoy bossing them around, but when it came to their love lives, she never played around.
Before she set any of them up with someone, she always did her homeworkâsometimes even meeting the woman herself to make sure she had solid character. Only then would she give the green light.
Thatâs exactly what happened with Serenity. Everyone thought Serenity had saved their grandmother by chance, but in reality, it was all planned.
Grandma had pretended to fall in front of Serenity, knowing full well what she was doing.
These days, people are scared to help an elderly person who falls. No one wants to be falsely accused and end up paying for something they didnât doâespecially people without deep pockets.
Serenity had the same concern. She asked bystanders to record everything and noticed a surveillance camera nearby before stepping in to help and taking Grandma to the hospital.
She was cautiousârightfully so. If anything had gone wrong, she couldâve been dragged into a financial mess her family couldnât afford.
But Grandma had no intention of trapping anyone. She just wanted to get close to Serenity. She liked her from the start.
And sure enough, just a few months later, Serenity and Zachary tied the knot in a whirlwind romance. To this day, Serenity still didnât know that Grandma had staged the whole thing just to meet her.
Grandma had repaid her "rescuer" with love and happiness.
âAbby, these flowers are for you,â Evan said, holding out the bouquet. âAnd this jewelry setâI thought it would look great on you. Just a little something from me.â
He offered the jewelry box as well.
Abby looked at him for a long moment before finally accepting the bouquet. Then she glanced at the box, took the red gift bag, and said, âI already have plenty of jewelry. You really donât need to buy more.â
âWhat you already have is yours. What I give you is from me,â Evan said with a grin. Seeing her accept the jewelry made him feel like he was finally making progress.
He was convinced that even the few days theyâd been apart had changed something. Abby seemed warmer now, more open. Maybe during that time, sheâd realized she missed himârealized that sheâd loved him all along.
Actually, Evan knew she'd fallen for him last year. But heâd been clueless then, even hurt herâenough to make her walk away.
Now, he was chasing her againâhoping she'd fall for him all over again and give him a second chance.
âWhy are you smiling like that?â Abby teased. âDid you stumble across a gold mine while you were home?â
Evan chuckled. âIâm just happy to see you smile. I missed you so much, Abby. Even a day without you feels like three years.â
