Ch. 4703: Married At First Sight Chapter 4703

Chapter 4703

If her class reunion were in Eaglioncile, Romina would make the time to attend. Some of her former classmates were quite accomplished, and she was hoping to recruit a few into the Lafond Group.

That was her real reason for being so willing to show up.

“River, I need to take this call,” Romina said.

River gave her a polite smile and gestured for her to go ahead.

She answered the phone right in front of him—it was from her high school class monitor.

The monitor was a woman she used to be close with, but in their senior year, the monitor had a falling-out with one of Romina’s dorm mates and stopped speaking to her altogether.

Back during the Gaokao, the monitor hadn’t scored as well as Romina. While Romina had made it into a top university, the monitor ended up in an average one. Not long after, Romina heard from other classmates that the monitor had been badmouthing her out of jealousy.

Romina had lost any goodwill she had toward her after that.

Two years ago, they met again at a class reunion. Both had matured, and the monitor apologized. They buried the hatchet and exchanged contact information. Still, they rarely chatted, and Romina had her social media locked so the monitor couldn’t see her updates.

Romina had only agreed to reconnect because the monitor often organized reunions.

“What’s up, class monitor?” Romina asked casually.

“I have a little favor to ask,” the woman replied.

“Go ahead—if I can help, I will.”

A baby’s cry came through the line.

“Baby, don’t grab Mommy’s phone,” the monitor’s voice cooed.

The child babbled in the background, clearly too young to talk—probably just a few months old.

Surprised, Romina asked, “When did you have a baby? Boy or girl? How old?”

When they last reconnected, the monitor had still been dating. It had been years since then, though it hadn’t felt that long to Romina.

“She was born last October,” the monitor said proudly. “A girl—eight months old now. She’s obsessed with my phone. If the screen’s lit up, she grabs it. If it’s not, she ignores it.”

Romina chuckled. “Smart girl! Why didn’t you tell me you were getting married? I would’ve been there.”

“Well… I was already pregnant when we got married,” the monitor admitted, sounding a bit embarrassed. “We just got the marriage certificate—no ceremony. Her father promised to make it up to me later.”

“When he does, you’d better invite us old classmates,” Romina teased. “If you invite me, I’ll make sure to come have a drink with you.”

The monitor lit up at that. Ever since learning Romina was the eldest daughter of the Lafond family, she had been looking for a chance to rebuild their friendship.

“Deal. And when we finally have the wedding, you’ll be first on the list,” the monitor said. “But speaking of reunions—our classmates are organizing a get-together tomorrow night. Are you free? Oh, and if you come… bring President York.

“Everyone knows about you two,” she added playfully. “Honestly, you’re the perfect match. We’ve all heard the stories about your love-hate dynamic, and people are dying to see you together in person.”
