Ch. 4876: Married At First Sight Chapter 4876
Chapter 4876
When Leonidas heard River was back, he immediately grabbed a thick stack of folders and went straight to his office.
River had barely sat down and hadnât even turned on his computer when the door swung open.
He looked up and frowned. âLeonidas, ever heard of knocking?â
âI did knock!â Leonidas insisted. Then, just to prove it, he stepped back and knocked again.
River didnât respond.
Thatâs when Leonidas realized heâd been played.
Annoyed, he reached for the handle to open the doorâonly to find it locked.
âRiver, my good brother,â Leonidas called out, half whining, half pleading, âopen up and help me out! My headâs spinning from reading all these documents. Can you at least take half?
âYou came in late today, and I had to attend the morning meeting. Itâs not fair for me to handle everything alone!
âMy dear brother, open the door! Please!â
Riverâs calm voice came through from the other side. âLeonidas, theyâre just documents. All you have to do is sign them. Whatâs so difficult about that?
âIâve got my own pile waiting here. Do your job and let me do mine. If you keep shouting at my door, I might just bring my stack over to your office and dump it on your desk.
âActually, thatâs a good ideaâthen I can take a vacation with my fiancĂ©e. After all, youâre the founder of Yantail. Iâm just a senior employee.â
Leonidas sighed. âRiver, youâre not just an employee. Youâre the co-owner of Yantail now. We each hold half the sharesâyouâre a boss too!
âBesides, itâs work hours. You already proposed. Miss Lafayetteâs busy with her job, so what are you even doing hanging around her office? You should stay here, work hard, and make more money.
âOnce youâre married, youâll have a family to support. And when you have kids someday, their education alone will cost a fortune. So hurry up and make money! The economyâs toughâyou should treasure your job!â
Riverâs patience snapped. âGet lost!â
The sharpness in his voice was enough. Leonidas instantly stopped knocking and fell silent.
He rubbed his nose awkwardly, clutched the folders, and trudged back toward his office.
His secretary, who had witnessed everything, tried not to laughâbut failed.
âWhatâs so funny?â Leonidas grumbled. âYou think I donât know how to manage a company?â
The secretary chuckled. âMr. Gaudreault, you came back just to gossip and avoid work. When a manâs in love, all he wants to do is slack offâdonât you know that?
âMr. Yorkâs right. You were Yantailâs founder, but you abandoned it for years. Now itâs time to take responsibility again.
âThis company has over ten thousand employees. It needs both you and Mr. York steering it forward. At the very least, keep everyoneâs jobs safe.â
Leonidas groaned softly. ââŠFine, fine.â
He muttered to himself as he walked back to his office.
Thankfully, Riverâs proposal had been successful. Once he and Romina got married, the honeymoon phase would fade, and River would go back to being a workaholic.
When that happened, Leonidas could finally go back to being a hands-off boss.
After all, River would take over everythingâwhile still calling him slow and incompetent.
