Ch. 4887: Married At First Sight Chapter 4887

Chapter 4887

“I don’t owe you anything!” Mrs. Gaudreault snapped coldly.

The money had been lent by her uncle, not Briana. Over the years, she had helped Briana’s family plenty — giving them money and assistance whenever they needed it.

She had been too kind for her own good, raising a bunch of ungrateful people who only knew how to take advantage of her generosity.

“Sister, I... I was just complaining,” Briana stammered, her tone softening when she saw how angry her cousin was. “I didn’t really mean to blame you for not helping me.”

When she heard Mrs. Gaudreault say she’d never help her again, all of Briana’s arrogance instantly disappeared.

She quickly tried to smooth things over. “Sister, I was impulsive just now. It’s my fault. I shouldn’t have said that to you. We’re family, aren’t we? We may not be biological sisters, but we share the same grandparents — our bond is deep. Even if bones break, the tendons still connect them. You can’t just ignore me.”

Briana sat down beside her and clung to her arm affectionately.

Mrs. Gaudreault pried her hand away and said coldly, “Briana, you’re not a child anymore. You don’t work, you just sit around and depend on your parents. They’re getting old, and the little they earn from odd jobs barely supports them.

If you want to spend money, earn it yourself. None of us owe you a living, and we’re not your personal ATM. You’re not welcome in my house anymore.”

She had long been disappointed in Briana. No matter how much she helped, Briana still acted like she was owed.

Yantail had been built on River’s ability and hard work — yet her mother’s relatives, who had contributed nothing, tried to reap the rewards. They came one after another, begging for jobs at the company. Out of family obligation, she arranged positions for some of them.

But instead of working honestly, they formed cliques, showed up late, left early, and even tried to push River out to take what he had built.

Leonidas had argued with her several times about it. Finally, for the sake of her family’s peace, she made up her mind and sent all those ungrateful relatives packing.

The few who genuinely needed a job were treated differently — she helped them find work elsewhere, just not at Yantail’s headquarters.

Even so, resentment grew among her relatives. No matter how much she gave — money, gifts, or opportunities — nothing was ever enough.

When they were poor, they were family.

But once she became successful, their affection turned into greed.

“Sister…” Briana tried again, but Mrs. Gaudreault’s face remained icy cold. Seeing she wouldn’t soften, Briana’s anger flared. She suddenly snatched up her LV bag — the one Mrs. Gaudreault had given her for her birthday — and hissed, “Fine! If you don’t want me here, I’ll leave. Who cares about your money anyway? Just wait — I’ll marry a rich man someday!”

With that, she stormed out.

The other relatives exchanged awkward looks, guilt flickering in their eyes. Deep down, they knew they weren’t much better than Briana.

They had lent Leonidas small amounts of money years ago, but he had repaid them many times over — with interest, gifts, and kindness.

Whenever they ran into trouble, Leonidas and his wife had always stepped in to help.

And yet, greed had made them forget all that.

“We… we should get going too,” one of them mumbled.

A few others nodded, standing up to leave.

Mrs. Gaudreault didn’t stop them. She simply rose and saw them to the door. Before they left, she handed them the small local gifts she had prepared — nothing fancy, just a few special items from Eaglioncile.

After everyone was gone, she sat back on the sofa, her anger still simmering.

She picked up her phone and called her husband.

When Leonidas answered, she immediately began venting her frustration — telling him everything that had happened with Briana.
