Ch. 5347: Married at First Sight Chapter 5347
Chapter 5347
âAvah gave you that idea?â Sonny said, realization dawning. âThat explains it. I was wondering why you suddenly decided to knit a sweater. But seriouslyâhow did Avah even come up with that? No one in our circle knows how to knit.â
Titus shrugged lightly. âWho knows? I asked her what girls like because I wanted to get something for Jennifer. But Jennifer isnât like other girlsâshe wouldnât care for ordinary gifts.â
He paused, thinking it over. âMaybe Avah was just brushing me off, or maybe it was a spur-of-the-moment idea. Or maybe she actually meant it. Either way, she told me to knit a sweater for Jennifer. Itâs already pretty cold in Havenmill this late in autumn. Even though weâre usually indoors with heating, we still go out sometimesâto feel the cold wind, to watch the snow.â
âA sweater actually makes sense here,â he added. âBack home, winter isnât even as cold as autumn here. Wearing a sweater there would be unbearable.â
Sonny let out a quiet laugh. âYou know your little project caused quite a stir, right? Once people heard you were hand-knitting a sweater for Jennifer, Hendrix and the others refused to be outdone. Theyâve been squeezing in time to learn knitting too.â
He continued, amused, âAunt Seren nearly laughed herself to tears when she heard. She even told me not to let Uncle Zack find outâotherwise, heâd feel pressured and start knitting sweaters too.â
Titus chuckled. âI didnât expect it to snowball like that. No wonder everyoneâs been calling and texting me, asking what kind of crazy idea I came up with.â
It was clearly Avahâs suggestion, yet somehow he had become the face of it.
Sonny didnât let him off the hook. âIf youâve got time to knit sweaters, then you must have plenty of time on your hands. Canât you handle company matters? Iâm swamped here, so donât even think about dragging me back to take over while you relax.â
Titus sighed. âI donât have time. I only knit after workâstaying up late to finish.â
âOh really?â Sonny shot back. âJennifer told Avah that youâve been knitting during office hours. Sounds like youâve got more free time than you claim. If youâre that free, take on more workâor hand it off to someone else. Youâve got plenty of staff.â
Titus fell silent for a moment, then muttered under his breath, âNone of them are as reliable as you. One of you is worth three of them.â
Sonny snorted. âSo Iâm just a beast of burden to you?â
âOf course not,â Titus said quickly. âLonen Group is your company tooâyouâre a major shareholder. We built this together.â
âI donât care,â Sonny replied flatly. âI wonât be coming back anytime soon. Iâve got a business trip in a couple of days. There are still issues with the project Lewis is handling with Francoeur in DonimingonâI need to go deal with it myself.â
Then, almost as an afterthought, he added, âAnd didnât you say you didnât even have time to drink water? Go pour yourself a big glass while you still can. Thatâs itâIâve got a meeting. Talk later.â
Before Titus could respond, the call ended.
Titus stared at his phone, then complained to himself, âHung up that fast⌠is he afraid Iâll drag him back to work? And he calls that being a âbeast of burdenâ? Heâs a shareholder too.â
With a resigned sigh, he set the phone down and returned to work. Being a boss meant carrying endless responsibilitiesâlike an overworked animal pulling a heavy load.
â
After ending the call, Sonny pressed the internal line and instructed his secretary to book a flight to Donimingon two days later, along with a hotel reservation. The trip was already plannedâhe genuinely had business to attend to.
Winnie and her grandfather had both told him that if he ever visited Donimingon, he only needed to inform her and she would handle everything, including accommodation and expenses.
But Sonny had no intention of relying on her.
He was a grown man, financially independent, and perfectly capable of managing his own affairs. Even in a business relationship, he had no desire to spend a womanâs money.
Just as he finished giving instructions, his secretary spoke again. âBoss, thereâs a woman with the surname Brown here. She says sheâs your aunt and wants to see you.â
Sonny didnât hesitate. âTell her Iâm busy. If she has nothing important, she can go home. She doesnât need to wait outside.â
âUnderstood,â the secretary replied.
