By the time everything settled down, they didn’t return home until after eleven that night.

The moment they entered the house, Lilian said to Titus, “Titus, go make me a late-night snack. I’m exhausted and starving.”

“And bring out a bottle of good wine too. It’s been a long time since I’ve had a drink. Your mother and I are having a couple tonight.”

Jennifer immediately volunteered, “Master, I’ll make it. What would you and Mama Jane like to eat?”

Lilian waved her off.

“Anything is fine. Just make something quick.”

“Let Titus do it. He’s my formal disciple. Give him the chance to show some filial respect to his master.”

After speaking, Lilian walked straight to the sofa and sat down, clearly refusing to let Jennifer take over the task.

“Jennifer, stay here and chat with your mother and me while Titus cooks.”

Titus didn’t let Jennifer enter the kitchen either.

Instead, he headed there himself.

Back when their own master was still alive, the two of them had lived with him and handled nearly every household chore imaginable.

Cooking was routine for them.

Ironically, their master himself rarely cooked.

When Titus was only a few years old, he had already begun cooking for his grandmaster.

At first, his cooking was terrible.

But his grandmaster never complained. Instead, he patiently taught Titus how to improve.

Over time, through constant practice, Titus and Jennifer eventually became excellent cooks.

By the time their master passed away, both of them were highly skilled in the kitchen.

Jennifer poured a glass of warm water for each of the two women.

Then she said excitedly, “Master, you two were way too fast!”

“Young Master and I hadn’t even arrived yet, and you’d already taken everyone down.”

Since the elders had already declared that Titus should personally fulfill his duties as a disciple, Jennifer could no longer compete with him over household tasks.

So she simply stayed behind to keep the two women company.

Jennifer was much more talkative around Jane and Lilian.

The moment she sat down, she eagerly continued, “Young Master got the call from the Labbe family and rushed over with us to rescue you.”

“But before we even got there, we saw the aftermath on the road.”

Lilian picked up her glass and drank most of the water in one go.

In hot weather, after expending so much energy, she was genuinely thirsty.

After setting the glass down, she clapped her hands together and laughed.

“It’s been a long time since I’ve had that much fun.”

“The Labbe family bodyguards aren’t bad, honestly.”

“They just haven’t reached the level of true experts yet.”
