Ch. 4723: Married At First Sight Chapter 4723

Chapter 4723

Romina looked at River and said softly,
“River, I’ve known you for so many years. I understand you, and I trust you. Don’t worry about what they say. They’re just jealous.

The women envy my family background. I’m almost thirty, still single, yet I can be with a man as successful and handsome as you. And the men? They’re jealous that a so-called ‘outsider’ like you—someone who came here as a worker—has me by your side.”

River gave a faint smile. “Of course, they’re just jealous. I don’t care what they say. I only worry you might.”

“Why would I?” Romina replied calmly. “I rarely interact with them. Their words mean nothing to me.”

Relief washed over River. He had suspected they would talk behind his back while he was in the bathroom, but thankfully, Romina wasn’t swayed by idle gossip.

“I’ve got a business trip tomorrow,” Romina said. “Let’s head home and rest early.”

“Okay,” River agreed.

He walked his home, already planning his next steps. He intended to follow her to Meadspring. That meant he needed to rest, pack, and make arrangements with Leonidas to manage the company in his absence.

Leonidas, upon hearing River would accompany Romina, sighed in regret. He had returned to the company thinking he could enjoy its benefits, but now he was stuck handling day-to-day business again—his leisurely life, once more, disrupted.

The next morning, River traveled with Romina on her business trip to Meadspring.

Meanwhile, back in Wiltspoon, Mr. and Mrs. Lafayette made a bold move: they went directly to Wildridge Manor to visit Old Madam York.

At the villa gate, the security guard straightened upon hearing they were distinguished guests from Eaglioncile. Though he didn’t know they were the parents of the York family’s future Seventh Young Lady, he treated them with utmost respect.

“Please wait a moment,” the guard said politely. “I’ll call the butler and have him inform the old lady.”

“Alright,” Mrs. Lafayette replied.

Though outwardly composed, she whispered to her husband once the guard left, “I’m not sure if Old Madam York will even agree to see us.”

After all, River and Romina weren’t officially a couple yet. For them to show up uninvited was bold, perhaps even presumptuous.

Their trip to Wiltspoon had been made under the pretense of tourism, but in truth, they were acting on Old Mr. Lafayette’s orders: to quietly investigate River’s family background.

What little they had uncovered so far was astonishing.

River wasn’t just any man—he was the seventh son of the York family, Wiltspoon’s wealthiest household. Unlike many large clans divided by infighting, the Yorks were united, with brothers and cousins closer than blood siblings.

At twenty-two, River had been personally introduced to high society by his elder brothers, attending major business events. He later worked at the York Corporation, rotating through both its branch offices and headquarters, building his experience.

But then, without warning, he resigned from all positions and left Wiltspoon. He traveled to Eaglioncile, blending in as an ordinary worker.

No one connected him to the Yorks. At most, people admired his manners and striking looks. Even the Lafayette family, when first encountering him, hadn’t dug into his past. They only saw a capable man who, in just a few years, had elevated Yantail into one of Eaglioncile’s leading companies.

With half of Yantail’s shares in his name, River had become a rising star: wealthy, influential, and admired. His bachelor status made him even more desirable, with many women drawn to him—but he rejected them all.

If Serenity hadn’t brought the children to Eaglioncile, perhaps Romina and River’s relationship would never have accelerated. They might still be blind to their own feelings even now.
