Ch. 4980: Married At First Sight Chapter 4980
Chapter 4980
Mr. Legare leaned back on the sofa with a satisfied smile. “We’ll stay home. Going out always ends up costing money anyway. Look at all the things you and Joaquin bought for us this morning—every time we visit, you both spoil us.”
Though most of the purchases were made by their son, Yehua had also quietly bought a few things herself.
Mrs. Legare turned toward Joaquin. “Joaquin, your clinic’s closed today, right? You should take Yehua out this afternoon. You two are always stuck at the clinic—you deserve a little break.”
Yehua looked at Joaquin, eyes full of hope. Even a simple outing with him would make her day. She didn’t need much—just time by his side.
Joaquin paused for a moment, unsure. “I don’t really know where to go,” he said finally. “Yuehua, do you have somewhere in mind?”
Her face brightened instantly. “How about the beach? I haven’t been in ages. I want to feel the sea breeze, walk along the sand, and eat some fresh seafood. I really love seafood.”
She had even cooked a shrimp dish for lunch earlier—but that had been a rare treat. Seafood was expensive, and she couldn’t afford it often. Usually, she only bought a small amount when Joaquin’s parents came to visit.
“The beach sounds lovely!” Mrs. Legare said enthusiastically, eyes lighting up. “We haven’t been there in so long. Joaquin, why don’t we all go together? I want to swim a little, feel the ocean breeze, and have some good seafood.”
Both of Joaquin’s parents enjoyed swimming, and their excitement was contagious.
Joaquin smiled faintly. “Alright, let’s do that. The drive’s a bit long, so let’s leave soon. We’ll find a hotel near the beach and stay overnight. That way we don’t have to rush. Tomorrow morning, we’ll head back early, and I’ll take you to the hospital for your checkup, Mom.”
“Perfect!” Mrs. Legare said happily. “Let’s go pack. We’ll each bring a change of clothes.”
They set down their plates of fruit and hurried off to their room, chatting about the trip as they went.
Yehua, meanwhile, didn’t have any clothes with her. Although she often came to Joaquin’s place to cook and clean, she’d never stayed overnight—except once, when he’d been too drunk to take care of himself. That night had been an accident, one she still thought about more than she should.
“My apartment isn’t far,” Yehua said softly. “Dr. Legare, I’ll run home and pack a few things.”
Joaquin nodded. “Alright. I’ll swing by to pick you up once you’re ready. Just wait for me downstairs.”
“Okay,” she said, smiling brightly before hurrying off.
As she walked away, her steps were light, almost skipping. Being able to travel with him—even with his parents along—felt like a small victory. She had suggested the trip, and he had agreed. That meant something.
Watching her disappear down the street, Joaquin felt a strange heaviness settle in his chest.
He sighed, pulled out his phone, and checked the time. Then he hesitated—before dialing Aitana’s number.
By now, she should’ve woken up from her lunch nap and be getting ready for work.
At that moment, Aitana had just come downstairs. She’d slept lightly, and Alex had already been waiting outside the Pollock family clinic for nearly ten minutes.
When Joaquin’s call came through, she hesitated briefly but answered.
Though she didn’t have feelings for him—and had rejected him more than once—Aitana didn’t want to be rude.
Even if love wasn’t in the cards, friendship still was. After all, they were alumni—and she didn’t believe in burning bridges.
