Ch. 5018: Married At First Sight Chapter 5018

Chapter 5018

The old lady said, “Alex, you need to go on a business trip next week. One of your subsidiary companies is running into some issues, and you can’t afford to take it lightly. Your competitor this time is no pushover, so don’t get careless.”

Alex’s expression grew solemn. “Grandma, I know. I was actually planning to leave in the next couple of days to handle it. I won’t give them an opening.”

The old lady continued, “Aitana is taking Saturday off. Didn’t we agree to invite her over to your house? It’ll be a good chance for her to spend some time with me too. I worked hard—practically at the cost of my own pride—to set up this opportunity for you.”

To her, business mattered—but getting her grandson a wife mattered even more.

The York family was large and influential. Even if one of the grandsons’ companies hit a rough patch, nothing would collapse. At most, it would be a temporary headache.

She had personally trained all of them into capable businessmen. They’d accumulated plenty of experience running the family’s operations over the years. No matter what problem came up, they knew how to handle it.

Even if the sky fell, she firmly believed her grandsons could hold it up.

Alex said, “I’ll be gone for two days. I’ll make sure to return by Saturday.”

The old lady shook her head. “With your ability? You’re not fixing that in two days. Postpone the trip for a couple of days.”

Alex: “...Okay.”

If she hadn’t picked up that phone call earlier, Alex wouldn’t have realized just how sharp his grandmother was. She even knew the state of his branch office and could tell he wouldn’t resolve the issue in two days.

His competitors there were ruthless. His headquarters in Wiltspoon had never faced serious threats—after all, Wiltspoon was the York family’s territory, backed by the powerhouse York Corporation. Nobody wanted to pick a fight there.

But the branch office was a different story. That was their turf, and they didn’t appreciate him stepping in. They’d take any chance they could to bite back.

“Grandma,” Alex said with a smile, “is there anything you don’t know?”

“Yes,” she replied smoothly. “I don’t know when Aitana will finally marry you.”

Alex: “...”

Just like that, she shut him down completely.

The old lady yawned and leaned back. “Alex, I woke up early today. I’m a bit tired. I’m going to rest my eyes for ten minutes. Wake me when we reach the Stone villa.”

“Go ahead, Grandma,” Alex said softly. “I’ll wake you.”

She fell asleep almost instantly.

Alex couldn’t help feeling a little envious—his grandmother slept like a baby, while he often lay awake for hours, unable to drift off.

Ten minutes later, they reached the Stone villa.

Alex honked, and Audrey soon came out to open the gate.

When she saw Alex and the old lady, she smiled. “I just came back from Seren’s place, and you’re already here.”

The old lady woke up right on time, so Alex didn’t need to nudge her.

He parked the car after driving inside, and she opened the door herself.

“Great-Grandma!”

Audrey had been playing with little Belle in the yard. When she heard the horn, she opened the gate herself instead of calling the servants.

Belle spotted the old lady and immediately ran over on her tiny legs, calling out to her with pure joy.

“Belle!” Audrey called, worried. “Don’t run so fast! You might fall!”

The old lady also hurried toward her great-granddaughter.

It was a heartwarming scene—two generations rushing toward each other with equal excitement.

“Great-Grandma!”

“Yes, sweetheart.”

Belle crashed into her arms, and the old lady scooped her up with a delighted smile.
