Lilian laughed. “Jane, you’re too soft-hearted. You gave the truth away so quickly.”

Jennifer let out a relieved breath. “Master, you really scared me.”

Lilian smiled.

“You’re fearless in the face of danger. Even if Mount Tai collapsed in front of you, you wouldn’t blink. Yet the moment you heard you might be transferred away from Titus, your face turned pale.”

“You only have Titus in your heart.”

As she spoke, Lilian glanced meaningfully at her apprentice.

Picking up where his master left off, Titus said with a grin, “Of course Jennifer only has me in her heart. And I only have Jennifer in mine.”

“Jennifer, Master was just teasing you. I would never replace you, and nobody else could take your place.” Then he added, “But next time we run into danger, at least give me a chance to fight. You know how frustrating it feels when I never get to do anything.”

Jennifer looked at him speechlessly.

“If it ever reaches the point where you need to take action personally, how dangerous would the situation have to be?”

She frowned. “Does Young Master actually want to face that kind of danger?”

Titus laughed. “Of course not. I hope all of us stay safe and spend the rest of our lives free from danger.”

Jane brought the conversation back to business.

“The handover went smoothly, didn’t it?”

Then she added with a smile, “As for whether these two only have each other in their hearts, they can figure that out themselves.”

Titus answered seriously.

“Everything appeared smooth on the surface. But who knows what schemes they’re planning behind the scenes?”

He shrugged.

“Whatever comes, I’ll deal with it. I’m not afraid of them.”

Jane nodded.

“That’s normal. They’ve controlled the family for thirty years. There’s no way they’ll hand everything over without resistance.”

Then her expression grew serious.

“You and Jennifer need to be extra careful from now on. Open enemies are easy to deal with. It’s the ones hiding in the shadows who are truly dangerous.”

“I know, Mom.”

After a brief pause, Jane turned to Jennifer.

“Jennifer, from now on, you shouldn’t stay by Titus’s side as a bodyguard.”

Jennifer blinked in surprise.

Even Titus looked confused.

Jane continued calmly.

“You should stay by his side as his girlfriend.”

Both of them froze.

Their eyes met instinctively before turning back toward Jane.

A faint blush appeared on Jennifer’s face. “Mom Jane... why?”

Jane patiently explained.

“Titus is now the head of the Labbe family, but he’s still unmarried.”

“There are plenty of elders in the family who have their eyes on the position of the patriarch’s wife. Openly and secretly, they’ll start arranging suitable candidates.”

“They’ll want a woman connected to their own interests to become the future matriarch.”

“Titus can refuse once or twice, but he can’t keep refusing forever.”

“If they constantly send women to approach him, pursue him, and create trouble, do you think either of you will have any peace?”

She continued,

“Besides, Titus will eventually have to get married and have children.”

“You’re the perfect person to play the role.”

Titus looked at Jennifer.

Jennifer looked back at Titus.

The blush on her face deepened.

“Mom Jane... I...” She lowered her head slightly. “I’m not very good at acting.”

The moment those words left her mouth, Jennifer’s emotions became tangled once again.

She remembered everything Lilian and Jane had said to her before.

Did Young Master really love her?

There was no doubt that he cared deeply about her.

But was it truly love?
