Chapter 5484

Like everyone else, Lennox had his own selfish ambitions.

Instead of dedicating himself to the Labbe family, he focused on eliminating rivals, suppressing capable clan members, and secretly turning family assets into his own.

Meanwhile, the Larouche family seized the Labbe family's business opportunities. Their influence in Havenmill continued to grow until they nearly replaced the Labbe family as the city's most powerful family.

The two families cut off all business ties and became bitter enemies.

The loss of those business relationships dealt the Labbe family a severe blow. Then, with the rise of the Lonen Group, the Labbe family found itself trapped on two fronts.

Ironically, the Lonen Group maintained business ties with Lafayette's Group.

Timothy couldn't help wondering what the head of the Larouche family would think after discovering that Landen, the founder of the Lonen Group, was actually the new patriarch of the Labbe family.

"Our patriarch already has business dealings with the Larouche family," Timothy said before letting out a sigh.

"Whether the Labbe family remains the number one family is now the patriarch's responsibility. I'm getting old. My energy is fading, and my abilities are limited. That burden is no longer mine to carry."

"After all, the Larouche family is the maternal family of the patriarch's great-grandmother. That connection may help ease the tension between the two families."

Mr. Deng wanted to point out that the conflict between the Labbe and Larouche families likely stemmed from the tragedy thirty years ago. The Larouche family had always suspected Timothy and his father, which was one of the reasons the relationship had deteriorated.

Now that Titus had returned—and as the descendant of the Larouche family's eldest aunt, a blood relative—it was only a matter of time before the two families reconciled.

But Mr. Deng wisely kept those thoughts to himself.

Saying them aloud would only anger Timothy.

Although Timothy was a member of the Labbe family, he belonged to a collateral branch. He wasn't a direct descendant of the Larouche family's eldest aunt, so there was no reason for the Larouche family to show him any special respect.

Thirty years ago, many people suspected Lennox, but no one had ever found evidence proving he was responsible for the patriarch's death.

Mr. Deng smiled and said, "Your Labbe family has finally welcomed its true patriarch. That's something worth celebrating. When are you holding the banquet? Don't forget to invite me over for a few drinks."

Timothy forced a smile.

"That depends entirely on the patriarch's plans. Whether we hold a banquet or not is his decision. But one thing is certain—there won't be one anytime soon."

"He still needs time to familiarize himself with everything. Today, reporters surrounded him, and he announced that he'll hold a press conference soon."

"Mr. Deng, I'm no longer the one in charge, so I really can't make any promises."

He looked genuinely troubled.

If a banquet were held, every business partner of the Labbe family would undoubtedly receive an invitation.

Timothy was certain Titus would host one.

He didn't even have to think twice.

The thought alone infuriated him.

The man he had tried to assassinate countless times—and failed to kill—had now become his superior. Even at his age, he would have to lower his head, address Titus respectfully as "Patriarch," and obey his orders.

The humiliation made him feel like his lungs were about to burst with rage.

But the old man had ordered them to endure it.

For now, they had to convince Titus that they had surrendered. Only by lowering his guard could they find the right opportunity to strike back.

As the old man often said, even the previous patriarch, despite all his power, had ultimately fallen into his hands.

Sooner or later, Titus would join his family in the underworld.

Now that the patriarch's token had resurfaced, killing Titus would allow them to seize it and replace the direct bloodline.
