Chapter 5527

“Miss Francoeur, I didn’t insult your distinguished guest. He took it personally.” Mr. Tucker hurriedly explained, “Miss Francoeur, if you think I was wrong, I apologize. I can go inside and apologize to your distinguished guest. I acted impulsively just now, and I shouldn’t have said those things.”

“I’m just jealous. I’m jealous that your distinguished guest is even more handsome than me and looks like a successful man. May I ask which company your distinguished guest is an executive with?”

Mr. Tucker had heard that Winnie wouldn’t even give face to her maternal uncles or other relatives on her mother’s side.

Her uncle, however, still wanted to control his niece. After all, she was the successor to the Francoeur Group. Once Old Mr. Francoeur passed away, Winnie would take over the Francoeur Group, and the Francoeur family’s vast fortune would also belong to her.

Even Winnie’s biological mother wouldn’t inherit that much property. Rumor had it that Old Mr. Francoeur had already made a will, and his daughter-in-law would receive only a limited share of the family fortune, mainly the assets left behind by her deceased husband.

Winnie’s biological father had died young, shortly after getting married. Although he had been born into a wealthy family, his personal assets had been limited.

Long before Mrs. Francoeur gave birth to her posthumous daughter, Mr. Francoeur had already transferred all the property under his son’s name to his daughter-in-law, keeping nothing for himself.

Mrs. Francoeur wasn’t good at business. Aside from keeping her savings in the bank to earn interest, she had little success with her other ventures. The two small companies her husband had operated before his death had nearly gone bankrupt several times because of her lack of business acumen and her family’s interference.

Old Mr. Francoeur couldn’t bear to watch his son’s life’s work go to waste, so he stepped in to help. He prevented the two small companies from going bankrupt, though they still struggled to operate properly. He didn’t interfere in their management; he simply provided enough money to keep them from collapsing.

But when you can’t make money and can’t accept help, you end up stuck in the same place.

Old Mr. Francoeur’s plan was simple. If his daughter-in-law ever came to her senses, stopped blindly trusting her family, and willingly handed both companies over to Winnie to manage, he would truly help her.

However, if those two small companies were handed over to Winnie, she had enough ability to manage them successfully without her grandfather’s help.

Mrs. Francoeur’s maiden name was Jacques. The Jacques family had once been wealthy and powerful, but their business eventually failed, and the family fortune declined. In recent years, they had only been able to maintain their wealthy lifestyle because of Mrs. Francoeur’s support.

The Jacques family’s company barely made enough money each year to stay afloat, never quite earning enough to truly prosper but somehow avoiding bankruptcy.

Because her own family’s fortune was declining while her husband’s family business was still thriving, Mrs. Francoeur naturally tended to side with her own family.

No one knew the contents of Old Mr. Francoeur’s will yet, but given his cautious nature, he would undoubtedly leave most of his assets to his only grandchild. Mrs. Francoeur would probably receive, at most, a few houses and shops.

As for the Francoeur family’s shares, they belonged to Winnie.

“What does that have to do with you? Even if Mr. Tucker lives another twenty years, you still won’t be as successful as my company’s distinguished guest.”

Winnie didn’t want to waste any more time arguing with Mr. Tucker. She left him behind and walked into the hotel.

Mr. Tucker tried to stop her, but Clementine stepped in and blocked his way.

Following Winnie’s instructions, Clementine had already contacted President Tucker and asked him to come to the Donimingon Hotel as soon as possible, take his son away, and make sure Mr. Tucker didn’t bother Winnie again.

Watching Winnie disappear into the hotel, Mr. Tucker finally gave up on pestering her.

He turned to Clementine and said bitterly, “Your boss is so domineering. She’s not even that beautiful, yet she’s incredibly arrogant. If she doesn’t give me a chance, she’ll never get married.

“Besides me, who else could tolerate her domineering personality and arrogance? She can just wait to become an old spinster for the rest of her life. She may ignore me today, but I’ll make sure she regrets not choosing me in the future!”

Secretary Clementine smiled sarcastically.

“Whether our boss gets married or not is none of Mr. Tucker’s concern. Our boss would rather remain single for the rest of her life than give you a chance.”
